PRINCETON, N.J. – Camille Zimmerman has been named the Ivy League Rookie for the Week after averaging 16.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg and 3.5 apg while shooting 40.7 percent (11-27) from the field in her first two collegiate games the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Zimmerman made her collegiate debut in the Lions starting lineup on Friday, Nov. 14 at San Francisco and posted 10 points on 2-of-3 shooting from beyond the arc to go with five rebounds, two assist and one steal. With 19 seconds on the clock the rookie who calls Tempe, Arizona, home swished a step-back triple to bring the Lions within five of the Dons. On the ensuing inbounds pass Zimmerman stole the ball and let a trey fly from the left wing to cut San Francisco's lead to two, but the ball rattled off the back rim and the host held onto the win.
The 6-foot forward then recorded her first 20-point game on Sunday with 23 points off a 50 percent connection rate (8-16) from the floor and went 6-of-8 from the line in a setback at San Jose State. In addition to her offensive contributions Zimmerman played a well-balanced floor game as she pulled down six rebounds and dished out five assists in 27 minutes of action.
Zimmerman and Columbia return to the court Wednesday, Nov. 19 as the Lions host Lafayette at Levien Gymnasium at 7 p.m. in the team's home opener.
