Manchester, Conn. – On Saturday, Feb. 8, the Columbia archery team took part in the Connecticut State Indoor Championships to open the 2014 season. The Lions traveled to north to compete against each other in a tournament atmosphere for a solid tune-up to begin the year.

Sophomore Julie Hoffmann took the top spot in the women's collegiate compound shooting 564. She bested teammates Mary Quien (558) who finished in second place and Marilyn He (543) who finished in third place.

In the collegiate olympic female division, junior Grace Kim led the pack with a first-place score of 537. Tiffany Kim was close behind with a second-place tally of 531, Sara Lavenhar finished in third place at 522 and first-year Joy Chang broke 500 in her inaugural tournament at 517.

Up next, the Lions will compete in the New Jersey State Indoor Championships on Saturday, Feb. 15, held at Wa-Xo-Be Archery in Monmouth Junction, N.J.
