CAMBRIDGE, Mass./HANOVER, N.H.—The No. 56 ranked Columbia Women's Tennis team gets back into action when it travels to New England this weekend to face Harvard on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Dartmouth on Sunday. First-serve for both matches is at 1 p.m. ET.
Columbia enters its weekend with a 10-8 overall record and 0-1 in Ivy League competition. In the latest ITATennis national rankings, Columbia checks in this week at No. 56. Columbia and No. 48 Princeton are the only two Ivy League teams currently listed in the national rankings.
Columbia enters the weekend after playing a schedule that has included seven nationally ranked teams in its last eight matchups.
Akanksha Bhan ranks No. 105 in the nation in singles. She owns an 11-14 record that includes an astounding 11 matches against nationally ranked opponents.
Jennifer Kerr leads the Lions with 13 singles wins,
Anna Zhang has 12, while Bhan,
Melissa Sakar and
Michelle Xu have 11 apiece. In doubles, Columbia has gone with a number of different combinations.
Anna Zhang and
Winta Tewolde have a 5-2 record, while
Jennifer Kerr and
Shivani Amineni are 7-5
Harvard (10-7, 1-0 Ivy League) enters the weekend on a four-match win streak following wins over BYU, UMass, Hofstra, and Dartmouth. Leading the Crimson in singles are Maxi Duncan (11-5), Sany Gawande (11-8), and Mihaela Merulescu (10-5).
Dartmouth is 6-8 overall on the year and 0-1 in the Ivy League.
Next week, Columbia returns home to host Brown (Saturday, April 16 at 1 p.m.) and Yale (Sunday, April 17, 1 p.m.).
