Columbia’s Women’s Rowing team will compete at the Ivy League Championship; No. 17 Heavyweight and No. 9 Lightweight teams are in action at EARC Championships; Both events take place on Sunday at respective locations.
PENNSAUKEN, N.J./WORCESTER, Mass.—All three Columbia rowing teams are in action this weekend as the Lions women's rowing team will compete at the Ivy League Championship on Sunday, while the No. 17 ranked Heavyweights and No. 9 ranked Lightweights will compete on Sunday at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association EARC Eastern Rowing Championships.
The women's team will race at the 2022 Ivy League Championship, set to take place at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, N.J. The event begins on Sunday at 8 a.m. with time trials beginning at 8 a.m. and finals events starting at 2 p.m. A complete game day page with schedule and other information on the event is available at this link. Live results are available at this link. The Championship will be broadcast live on ESPN+ at this link. Cooper River Park has served as the site of the Ivy League Championship since 2002. Four of the eight Ivy League women's rowing teams are ranked in the Pocock CRCA poll (May 11, 2022). No. 3 Yale, No. 4 Princeton, No. 5 Brown, No. 8 Penn are all ranked in the top-20, while Harvard (six points), Cornell (one point), and Columbia (one point) are all receiving votes.
Columbia's No. 17 ranked Heavyweights and No. 9 ranked Lightweights will compete at the annual 2022 EARC Eastern Championships, which are being held at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. on Sunday. Heats will be contested starting at 8 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., while finals are set for 1 p.m to 5:30 p.m. Fans can access the live video feed at this link, while live results and a schedule of events is posted at this link. A practice day is scheduled for Saturday.
The Lions Heavyweights will compete against teams from Boston U., Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Harvard, Holy Cross, Navy, Northeastern, Penn, Princeton, Syracuse, Wisconsin, and Yale. The Lightweights will race against boats from Cornell, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Harvard, Navy, Penn, Princeton, and Yale.
According to the posted schedule, Columbia's Heavyweights will send a First Varsity 8 boat and a Second Varsity 8 boat. On the Lightweight side, the Lions are slated to compete in the First Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8, Third Varsity 8, and a Varsity Four races.
