NEW YORK – Coming off a 6-1 win over Hofstra on Sunday, the women's tennis team is back at home this weekend to host Fordham at 12 noon on Friday and Binghamton at 12 noon Sunday.
Fans attending the match must enter at the gate on 218th Street across from Seaman Avenue, and go through the main entrance. Doors will open at 11 a.m. both days. Parking at the Baker Athletics Complex is extremely limited. Lot D near the complex will be open during the match. The lot is located at 5122 Broadway. THE SEASON AT A GLANCE
The Lions are now 3-5 this spring after posting a dominating 6-1 win against Hofstra last weekend. Columbia also has wins against Morgan State and Yale this season. The two matches this weekend will be the last time the Lions play at home until April. The Lions will hit the road for two matches in Florida before heading to Cornell to open the Ivy League slate.
The first-year
Sophia Wang has made an impact for the Lions with two wins this spring. She clinched Columbia's win over Yale in the first round of the ECAC Championships with a thrilling three-set win over Vivian Cheng.
Sophomore
Clarine Lerby and junior
Rachele Rimondini have each picked up three wins in singles action this season to help lead the Lions.
On the doubles side, the duo of Wang and
Anna Zhang has been strong spot in the Lions' doubles lineup. The pair won five-straight doubles matches to open the season and were ranked in the ITA's first doubles rankings of the season. The duo now has six wins this season.
THE FORDHAM AND BINGHAMTON MATCHUPS
Fordham is 5-1 on the season coming into Friday's matchup. The Rams posted a 4-0 win over Long Island University on Sunday to extend their win streak to five matches.
Binghamton is currently 0-14 this spring and will play at Buffalo and at home against Siena before making the trip to Columbia on Sunday.
