PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Columbia women's tennis season came to an end Sunday afternoon with a 4-1 loss at Brown.
The Lions finish the 2023 campaign with an 11-8 overall mark and a 5-2 record in Ivy League play.
Brown took control early by winning the doubles point with victories in the No. 1 and 3 doubles. Brown's Britany Lau and Addison Ahlstrom took a 6-4 win over
Anna Zhang and
Fatima Keita in the No. 1 singles. Lindsey Hofflander and Phoebe Peus posted a 6-2 win against
Winta Tewolde and
Michelle Xu in the No. 3 spot.
The Bears held their momentum through singles play as Brown finished off the 4-1 win. Ali Benedetto took a 6-7, 6-2, 6-2 win against Zhang in the No. 1 spot. Vivian Miller then defeated
Rachele Rimondini, 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 3 singles. Ahlstrom earned a 2-6, 6-1, 6-0 win over Xu in the No. 6 spot.
Tewolde posted the lone win of the afternoon for the Lions with a three-set 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 win over Peus in the No. 2 singles.
