HANOVER, N.H. – The 43
rd-ranked Columbia women's tennis team earned a 4-1 road win over Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon to improve to 15-4 overall and 3-1 in Ivy League matches this season.
Columbia will meet No. 39 Harvard on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in an important match in the chase for an Ivy League Championship.
The Lions captured the doubles point to take an early lead. The duo of
Gayathri Krishnan and
Sophia Strugnell earned a 6-2 win over Peyton Capuano and Michela Moore in the No. 2 spot.
Rachele Rimondini and
Fatima Keita then posted a 6-4 win against Caroline Lemcke and Brooke Hess in the No. 3 doubles.
Keita, Krishnan and
Winta Tewolde earned singles victories to clinch the team victory. Keita took down Moore in the No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-3. Krishnan won a 6-2, 6-0 match against Elizabeth Fahrmeier in the No. 4 spot. Tewolde took a 6-2, 6-3 win over Lemcke in the No. 5 spot.
