NEW YORK —
Columbia fencing, women's swimming & diving, men's tennis, track & field, men's swimming & diving and women's tennis are featured in this week's edition of Lions on the Road. Every week, GoColumbiaLions.com will be using "Lions on the Road" to preview that week's upcoming games and events happening off campus.
FENCING
The Columbia fencing returns to the strip for the first time in 2025 when it takes on Cornell, NJIT and Princeton at the Tiger Invitational on Tuesday, January 14. The Lions will also make a quick trip to Queens for the St. John's Super Cup on Sunday, January 19 for dual bouts against Harvard, Ohio State, Notre Dame and the host Red Storm. Columbia's men and women earned the No. 3 spots in the midseason USFCA Coaches Poll. The women are a perfect 10-0 in dual matches on the young season, while the men check in with a 9-1 record.

WOMEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING
The Columbia women's swimming & diving team has a quick turnaround, returning to the pool for one of its final three meets on the road to close out the regular season. The Lions will take on Cornell on Thursday in Ithaca at 3 p.m. Returning to the pool for the first time in 2025 this week after returning from its winter training trip, Columbia will look for a big win against a 2-4 Big Red team which is 0-4 so far in the Ivy League.

MEN'S TENNIS
The Columbia men's tennis team opens the spring season Friday at the Fighting Illini Invite in Champaign, Illinois. The Lions will compete in the three-day event against Illinois and Boise State that will feature singles and doubles play, as well as hidden duals. The competition is expected to offer four to six doubles sets for players from the three participating programs, in addition to at least three singles matches for every student-athlete. The event will help prepare the Lions for their first dual match against Miami on January 25 inside the Philip and Cheryl Milstein Family Tennis Center.

TRACK & FIELD
Track & Field returns to action for the first time in 2025 on Friday, participating in the Ramapo College Season Opener at the Armory. The meet will begin at noon. The next day, the Lions will compete against Dartmouth and Yale in a tri-meet in Hanover, New Hampsire beginning at 10 a.m. Columbia will hope to ride the momentum from the Rutgers Holiday Classic in December at which the Lions began their season.
Obiora Okeke picked up right where he left off last year to dominate his field events. He won the weight throw with a mark of 19.23m and also came in second in the shot put with a mark of 18.19m. Columbia's distance runners had a fantastic day, accounting for two of the other wins.
Rory Clare won the women's 3000m run with a time of 9:40.70, 11 seconds faster than her win last year.
Lucy Henkel took first place in the 1000m run with a time of 2:50.33.

MEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING
Men's swimming and diving is right back at it this week in the first of three road meets to close out the regular season. Columbia will make the trip north to Ithaca to take on the Cornell Big Red on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Lions will look to pick up right where they left off this weekend, earning a massive victory over Brown on Senior Day.
Adam Wu had an incredible meet, winning a total of four events to help lead the Lions to a victory. He opened with a win in the 200 free, clocking in at 1:36.73. Later in the day, Wu would also win the 200 fly with a time of 1:47.28. He put a stamp on his excellent afternoon by winning 500 free with a time of 4:31.13. He was also a part of the 400-free relay winning squad. The Big Red enter Thursday's competition with a 4-2 record, and 2-2 within the Ivy League.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
The Columbia women's tennis team kicks off the spring season on Monday with a dual match at Florida Gulf Coast. First serve from Fort Myers is set for 10 a.m. Monday's match will be Columbia's only competition before heading to Los Angeles for the ITA Kickoff Weekend where the Lions will play Washington in the first round. Columbia looks to build on a successful 2024 spring season where the Lions finished second in the Ivy League. Columbia achieved a Top 25 ranking and finished a perfect 10-0 in home matches last spring.
