Jackie Dubrovich’s Columbia career set a new standard for women’s foil at the university, and it became the launch point for a résumé that now includes a historic Olympic gold medal for Team USA.
A New Jersey native, Dubrovich was already competing nationally and internationally at a young age, earning spots on multiple Cadet and Junior national teams and gaining early experience on the sport’s biggest stages.
At Columbia, Dubrovich developed into one of the most accomplished fencers in program history. She earned four consecutive All-America honors, was a three-time first-team All-American and a two-time NCAA runner-up, consistently fencing at a level that put her in the national title conversation year after year.
In the Ivy League, she captured the 2016 women’s foil championship and collected three All-Ivy League selections. By the end of her college career, Dubrovich had posted a 336-33 overall bout record and a 75-17 mark in Ivy League Round Robin matches. Her NCAA championships record in women’s foil remains a program benchmark, as she totaled more NCAA Championship wins than any other women’s foil fencer in school history at 75-17. She also served as a two-time team captain.
Dubrovich’s impact extended beyond individual results. She helped guide Columbia to back-to-back national team championships in 2015 and 2016, along with Ivy League women’s team titles in both seasons.
After Columbia, Dubrovich continued to rise in international fencing. She represented the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, where the women’s team foil squad finished fourth. She added world championship hardware in the years that followed, earning a team bronze medal at the 2019 World Championships and a team silver medal at the 2022 World Championships in Cairo. She also won three career individual World Cup bronze medals, with podium finishes in St. Maur, France, in 2021, in Cairo in 2024 and in Hong Kong.
Her biggest moment came in Paris. Dubrovich represented the United States at the 2024 Summer Olympics and won gold as part of Team USA in women’s team foil. It was the first Olympic gold medal ever won by a USA Fencing team, a milestone for the sport in this country and a defining achievement in her career.
In fall 2024, Dubrovich began a new chapter in the sport by opening Polaris Fencing Center in Orange, New Jersey. Now based in Maplewood, she remains closely connected to fencing as both a competitor and a mentor, bringing the same focus that powered her Columbia career to the next generation.
