Jeff Adams
- Induction:
- 2026
- Class:
- 2012
When Jeff Adams arrived at Columbia in 2008, he already possessed the physical frame of a college lineman. His relentless work ethic and immediate reliability soon set him apart on the field.
The real turning point came in 2009. Adams returned from a summer of training bigger, stronger and ready to take over the spot on the left side. He started at left tackle from that point on, protecting the quarterback’s blind side and setting the standard for how Columbia wanted to play up front. From his first start as a sophomore through his final game as a senior, Adams played in all 30 games. Coaches around the league noticed the consistency. He earned first-team All-Ivy League honors in each of his final three seasons.
By the start of his senior year, the attention had moved beyond the Ivy League. Adams earned four preseason FCS All-America selections, then backed it up with another first-team All-Ivy season. He finished his Columbia career as a third-team All-American and earned an invitation to the East-West Shrine Game, where NFL scouts could see him practice and compete against top players from across the country.
After graduation in 2012, Adams took the hard route into the league, signing with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent. He played six seasons in the NFL from 2012 to 2017, spending time with six different teams and earning vested veteran status. He had his longest stay with the Houston Texans from 2014 to 2016. He made his NFL debut in 2014 and moved into the starting lineup in 2015.
When his playing career ended after the 2017 season, Adams moved into a new field without slowing down. In early 2018, he joined Hologic, a medical technology company focused on women’s health. He has spent more than eight years in the company’s surgical division, supporting minimally invasive technologies used to treat abnormal uterine bleeding and symptomatic uterine fibroids. He has worked in both sales and marketing roles and now serves as regional sales manager for Hologic’s Gulf Coast sales team.
Adams’ Columbia story is easy to sum up. He was dependable, he improved every year and he handled the toughest matchups week after week. The same mindset helped him carve out a long NFL career and then build a strong second career off the field.
