Nadia Eke
- Induction:
- 2026
- Class:
- 2015
Nadia Eke established herself as one of the most decorated athletes in Columbia track and field history, winning 10 Ivy League championships, earning four All-America honors and becoming one of the nation’s top triple jumpers during her career from 2011-15.
Eke made an immediate impact after arriving at Columbia. As a first-year in 2012, she helped the Lions capture the Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Track & Field Championship, the first team title in program history. Competing alongside fellow Hall of Fame inductee Marvellous Iheukwemere, Eke was part of a group that set a new standard for Columbia women’s track and field and delivered a championship that remains one of her fondest memories from her time in Morningside Heights.
Individually, Eke became a consistent presence at the top of the Ivy League and on the national stage. She finished her career as a 10-time Ivy League champion and 15-time All-Ivy League honoree while competing primarily in the triple jump and long jump. She earned All-America honors in the triple jump at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships, 2014 NCAA Indoor Championships and both the indoor and outdoor NCAA Championships in 2015.
Eke saved some of her best performances for her final season. She placed third in the triple jump at the 2015 NCAA Indoor Championships, the highest national finish of her career, and followed with a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. She earned USTFCCCA First Team All-America honors three times.
By the time she graduated, Eke had established career-best marks of 13.32 meters indoors and 13.46 meters outdoors in the triple jump. She also competed in the long jump, recording personal bests of 5.85 meters indoors and 6.08 meters outdoors. She concluded her Columbia career as the program record holder in the triple jump and the Ivy League indoor record holder in the event.
A team captain, Eke was also recognized for her accomplishments off the track. She was an NCAA Woman of the Year finalist, USTFCCCA Academic All-American and Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-American as a senior. In 2015, she received the Connie S. Maniatty Outstanding Senior Student-Athlete Award at the Varsity C Celebration before graduating from Columbia College with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
Eke continued competing internationally after Columbia while representing Ghana. She became a multiple-time Ghanaian national champion and African Games medalist, earned a medal at the African Championships and reached the final at the Commonwealth Games. She also established the Ghanaian national record in the triple jump.
Her international career culminated at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, where Eke fulfilled a lifelong goal of becoming an Olympian. She was selected as Team Ghana’s captain and served as the nation’s flag bearer while competing in the triple jump.
Since retiring from competition, Eke has remained involved in sports through work spanning Olympic partnerships, athlete development and sports growth strategy. While pursuing her Executive MBA at Cornell University, she founded SportIQuate, a global sports capital intelligence platform focused on investment, infrastructure and innovation in sports.
