
Wrestling Ranked Eighth in NWCA All-Academic Top 30

NEW YORK - The National Wrestling Coaches Association announced its annual Division I All-Academic Top 30 Teams for the 2009-10 wrestling season on May 5.
Out of the 30 teams honored, Columbia ranked eighth overall with a team cumulative grape point average of 3.1836. The Lions were one of five Ivy League schools on the list and had the second highest team GPA within the conference. Harvard took top honors with a 3.3098, followed by American's 3.296 and University of Nebraska-Lincoln's 3.2824. Duke and Davidson rounded out the top-five with team GPA's of 3.2255 and 3.2252, respectively.
All 11 conferences were represented in the top 30 with the EIWA leading the way with seven teams representing the conference: Columbia, American, Brown, Cornell, Harvard, the United States Military Academy, and Princeton.
For teams to be eligible for consideration, the team GPA is comprised of 12 student- athletes, including the 10 wrestlers that were the entries in the NCAA tournament conference qualifier. If teams had less than 10 entries for their respective qualifier, they may fill those spots with wrestlers that competed in at least one varsity dual during the season.
