NEW YORK - The Columbia wrestling team was unable to to escape a tough Princeton effort, dropping a 26-6 decision to the Tigers. Princeton won eight of ten bouts, while the Lions were able to steal victories at the 133 and the heavyweight matches.
After Ryan Cash gave Princeton an early 3-0 lead, Angelo Amenta tied things up with a 133-pound win. The junior tri-captain improved to 15-10 on the season when he defeated Jordan Reich, 3-1.
The Tigers then went on a run, winning the next seven matches. Columbia came close to a victory at 165, when Tyrel White went to overtime with Jonathan Schleifer. After a scoreless first minute, even 30-second escape rounds, and a scoreless second minute, Schleifer earned the victory thanks to a two-second riding-time advantage.
