COLUMBIA'S STATUS
In a back-and-forth slugfest that saw a combined 47 fouls, 13 tie scores and 12 lead changes UAlbany came away with a 70-67 road victory over Columbia Friday night. The Lions led by as many as nine points in the second half, but the Great Danes responded with a 12-0 run to take the lead and held off a late Columbia rally to pick up the road win.
ABOUT MAINE
• The Black Bears dropped their fourth straight game Friday night at Buffalo, 79-60.
• Wes Myers paces the offense, averaging 14.1 points. Andrew Fleming checks in posting 10.9 points and a team-best 7.1 boards per game.
• Maine is 1-1 against the Ivy League this season, topping Dartmouth (73-68) and falling to Brown (82-77).
SERIES HISTORY
The Lions and Black Bears will face off for the fifth time with the teams splitting the previous four meetings. Columbia came away with a slim 74-71 victory in Bangor on December 20, 2010 in the last game between the schools.
COLUMBIA VS. THE AMERICA EAST
The Lions are 15-19 against teams currently in the America East Conference. Columbia's most common foe is Stony Brook (7-12), who it defeated, 73-66, to open the 2016-17 campaign. This is the second consecutive AE opponent after facing UAlbany Friday.

Columbia tied the program's single-game record with 14 steals in its win over Manhattanville, on Dec. 11. The Lions followed that up with nine swipes at Miami and nine more against UAlbany. They are averaging 10.7 steals during this stretch.
