NEW YORK - Following a historic Ivy League Round-Robin Championship that saw its first tri-champion crowned since the 1999 season, the conference has announced the 2015-16 All-Ivy League selections.
After earning a share of each the men's and women's tri-title this past weekend, the Lions were able to land eight members of their team on the all-conference ballot with four first team and four second team selections.
On the women's side, Jackie Dubrovich and Sara Taffel were named to the first team after dominating performance in women's foil. Named the women's foil champion, Dubrovich finished the two-day round robins with an unblemished 18-0 record while Taffel ended the weekend with a 14-1 mark, only falling to Harvard's MacKenzie Lawrence, 5-4.
After being named the College Fencing 360 National Rookie of the Week earlier this year, Ilana Solomon continued to add on the awards as she earned a spot on second team All-Ivy following a 12-6 performance in women's sabre this past weekend.
On the men's side, junior Michael Costin and first-year Calvin Liang earned a spot on the first team while Geoffrey Loss, Nolen Scruggs and Jake Hoyle took home second team honors.
Liang finished in second overall in men's sabre after putting together a 10-2 overall record while Costin (10-4) and Loss (9-4) took third and fourth, respectively, in the event. Scruggs earned his first collegiate honors after finishing sixth overall in men's foil, posting up an 8-4 record over the course of the two-day event. The defending NCAA Champion Hoyle picked up second team accolades after finishing in a four-way tie for fourth with a 9-6 record in men's epee.
