All-Academic Honorees
MANHEIM, Pa. - Columbia senior Garrett Ryan has been named to the NWCA All-Academic team, announced today by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.
"Garrett is the definition of what it means to be a student-athlete at Columbia University," said the Andrew F. Barth Head Coach of Wrestling
Zach Tanelli. "His ability to balance the academic demands of an Ivy League education with his level of commitment to wrestling nothing short of admirable. He will graduate from Columbia as one of the most complete student-athlete's that this storied program as ever produced."
The Scottsdale, Arizona, native earns the NWCA honors for the second straight season, which matches his Academic All-Ivy League honors in back-to-back years. A history major, Ryan went 31-8 this season, qualifying for the NCAA Championships for the fourth year in a row. He ended his career on the mat with a 103-41 record, including a 13-2 mark in Ivy League duals which netted him first team All-Ivy League recognition for all four seasons.
In total, 154 NCAA Division-I wrestlers, including 14 heavyweights, were named to the individual list.
