TEMPE, Ariz. - The Columbia men's tennis team was among the 735 programs across all five divisions of college tennis to be honored as an ITA All-Academic team for the 2017-18 school year.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team GPA of 3.20 or above. All varsity letterwinners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year. The Lions came in with an impressive 3.67 team GPA this year, with every player on the team posting a 3.20 or above.
In the 2017-18 calendar year, the Lions improved on their success from recent seasons, making a trip to the Sweet-16 for the third time in five years. Columbia won its fifth consecutive Ivy League title, behind Ivy League Player of the Year Victor Pham, who headlined six Lions on the All-Ivy teams. Joining Pham on the All-Ivy teams were first team doubles recipients Jack Lin and William Matheson, second team All-Ivy singles players Lin and Jackie Tang, and second team doubles honorees Adam Ambrozy and Michal Rolski. Five of the six players named to the All-Ivy League teams in 2017-18 will return during the 2018-19 campaign.
