Lions Soar Past Elmira, 102-63, in Non-Conference Finale

All 13 players that dressed scored and Columbia eclipsed 100 points for the first time since 2015 in the win.
NEW YORK – The Columbia men's basketball team finished non-conference play with a 102-63 triumph over Elmira College Saturday afternoon. The Lions (5-9) were led by 20 points from Quinton Adlesh and Patrick Tapé's first career double-double (14 points, 14 rebounds).
All 13 players that dressed for Columbia scored and the Lions scored 35 points off of 21 Soaring Eagles' turnovers. The Lions also assisted on 29 of 35 made field goals and shot 51.5 percent from the field while holding Elmira to 35.3 percent.
The Soaring Eagles stayed closed and trailed just 32-17 after a pair of Shawn Backus free throws with 8:23 left in the half. A 13-2 run capped by CJ Davis finding Jake Killingsworth, who provided 11 points and four assists, for a layup gave Columbia a 35-19 advantage at the 6:17 mark. Adlesh buried one of his four treys on the afternoon to give the Lions a 51-31 cushion after 20 minutes.
Columbia held Elmira without a field goal for the first five minutes of the second half and led by as many as 41 as it coasted to its second consecutive win.
The Lions reached 100 points in a game for the first time since a win over Kean (107) points on Nov. 13, 2015. Adlesh moved into to sole possession of seventh place on Columbia's career 3-point field goals list (154).
The Lions kick off Ivy League play at Cornell next Saturday, January 19. Game time is set for 4 p.m. on ESPN+.
