Justin Levine Named Assistant Coach

Levine joins Columbia's staff after four seasons at VCU.
NEW YORK – Justin Levine will join the Columbia men's basketball staff as an assistant coach fourth-year head coach Jim Engles announced today. Levine comes to the Lions after spending four seasons, the last two as video coordinator, at Virginia Commonwealth University.
"Justin's accomplished a lot in a short amount of time in this business," Engles said. "He comes highly recommended and has seen what it takes to build a consistent winner from his time at VCU. Justin has a great attitude, brings a lot of positive energy and I'm excited for him to get to work with our players and staff."
Levine began with the Rams in the summer of 2015 as a graduate assistant before being elevated to video coordinator prior to the 2017-18 campaign. In that role, he was responsible for the team's video operations, including scouting and recruiting edits. VCU posted a 94-43 record, including three NCAA Tournament appearances, during his stint.
In the summer of 2018, Levine was the head coach of Ram Nation, a team comprised mainly of VCU alumni, in The Basketball Tournament. The native of Highland Mills, New York, guided the squad to the quarterfinals of the event.
Levine worked for the Cornell men's basketball program for 2013-15 while doing his undergraduate work at Ithaca College. He graduated in 2015 with a degree in Business Administration. He was also a captain of Ithaca's men's tennis team and was voted Second Team All-Conference. Levine received his master's degree from VCU's Center for Sport Leadership in May of 2017.
