NEW YORK — Coming off its sixth-straight Ivy League title and fourth trip to the NCAA Sweet 26 in six years, four singles players and one doubles team from the Columbia men's tennis team have earned spots on the 2019-20 Oracle ITA Division I preseason national rankings, released Tuesday afternoon.
After earning All-America honors a season ago, junior Jack Lin leads the Lions and the Ivy League in the singles standings coming in at No. 9 nationally. Joining him in the preseason top-125 are No. 56 Adam Ambrozy, No. 74 Rian Pandole and No. 77 Jackie Tang.
Columbia's four ranked individuals leads the Ivy League, with Princeton's two representing the only other team in the conference with multiple selections.
On the doubles side, Lin and Tang team up to form the sixth-ranked pair in the nation, which also leads the Ancient Eight. Prior to Tang's injury in the spring, the duo went 6-0 in doubles action in 2019 including defeating Baylor's second-ranked Jimmy Bendeck/Sven Lah, 6-0 at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
The Lions begin fall action this weekend, sending a contingent to Princeton's Farnsworth Ivy-Plus Tournament. The event will run from Sept. 20-22.
