PRINCETON, N.J. — Columbia men's basketball first-year
Jack Forrest picked up Ivy League Rookie of the Week accolades, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. Forrest's 23 points led the Lions to a 14-point victory over Cornell in Columbia's Ancient Eight opener Saturday night.
Forrest notched eight straight points in the first half to give Columbia a 12-9 lead, an advantage it would not relinquish the rest of the way. Later, he drained a key 3-pointer five minutes into the second half to break up an 8-2 Big Red run. He finished with a career-high in scoring for the second consecutive game and shot 10-of-15 from the floor and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.
A product of Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, Forrest is the first Lion to earn Rookie of the Week status since
Maka Ellis did so nearly a calendar year ago on January 21, 2019.
Mike Smith was named to the Ivy League Weekly Honor Roll after posting 15 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals in the win.
The Lions will conclude the regular season series with the Big Red next Saturday, January 25, at 4 p.m. in Ithaca. Fans can watch the action live on ESPN+.
