CORALVILLE, Iowa — A pair of Columbia Wrestlers finished on the podium at the 2022 US Wrestling Junior World Team Trials, with Aaron Ayzertov finishing fifth at 79kg in the U20 Freestyle bracket and
Joshua Ogunsanya taking seventh at 74kg in the U23 Freestyle bracket in the tournament that ran from June 3-5.

Ogunsanya snagged five wins along the way to the podium while Ayzerov collected three wins of his own to find himself on the podium.Â
Andrew Garr (70kg) and
Nick Babin (57kg) took part in the U23 Freestyle bracket as well with Babin snagging three wins and Garr getting one of his own in the tough tournament.

Ogunsanya began his tournament with three straight wins, beating Kevon Freeman (VSU 10-0), Salvador Silva (VPO1 7-6) and Matt Lee (VPO1 10-8). The 2022 national tournament qualifier collected two more wins, a VSU1 22-11 victory over David Ferrante and a VIN result over Matt Lee in the seventh-place match to put himself on the podium.

In the U20 Freestyle bracket Ayzerov's journey to the podium began with a win via VSU1 12-2 over Logan Messer. Wins over Jaden Williams (VSU 10-0) and Elise Brownton (VSU1 13-2) secured his spot on the podium where he finished fifth.
