Fencers Continue to Impress at Events Worldwide

The Lions saw 34 current members of the squad earn top-32 finishes across four competitions
NEW YORK — Over the past two months, members of Columbia fencing past, present and future competed worldwide for national and international competition. First-year Tierna Oxenreider earned a bronze medal in epee at the December and January North American Cups to highlight the Lions' finishes.
Other standout performances included Zander Rhodes placing fifth at the January NAC and 14th at the Serbia Women's Foil World Cup, Chloe Gouhin finishing eighth in Division I sabre in December and Zachary Binder securing a sixth-place finish in Division I foil at the December NAC's. Across six competitions internationally, 34 current members of Columbia posted top-32 finishes.
A trio of Lions' alumni reached the podium, including Jackie Dubrovich '16CC securing silver in foil, Anne Cebula '20BC tying for third at the January NAC's and James Bourtis' 22CC claiming bronze in men's foil at the December NAC's.
Columbia returns to collegiate competition Sunday, January 15, at the Penn State Invitational. The Lions will take on the host Nittany Lions, Temple (women only), Haverford (men only), North Carolina, Duke and Penn at the one-day event.
