Babin finished the weekend 2-0
NEW YORK – Nick Babin earned Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association Wrestler of the Week honors after securing two wins at 125 pounds in Columbia's duals matches against American and No. 13 Oklahoma State over the weekend.
Babin made quick work of American's Maxmilian Leete to start the dual match on Friday night as Babin pinned Leete in just over a minute into the 125 bout. The pin would set the tone for the rest of the dual match as the Lions cruised to a dominating 48-0 win over EIWA foe, American.
Babin had another impressive showing on Sunday afternoon as he blanked OSU's 13/16 Trevor Mastrogiovanni in a 6-0 decision win. The Lions hung close until the Cowboys pulled out wins in the last few bouts of the afternoon to prevail, 23-12.
With the two wins this weekend, Babin moves to 12-7 overall this season. He is now 3-2 in dual matches and 1-0 in EIWA duals. Babin has posted four major decisions, one tech fall and one fall this season.
The Lions return to the mat this weekend for a pair of home dual matches. Columbia will host Princeton on Friday for a 7 p.m. start. No. 21 Penn will come to town on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match. Entry to home wrestling matches is free and streaming is available through ESPN+.
