
No. 19 Lions Down Dartmouth on First Day of ECAC Championships

HANOVER, N.H. – The No. 19 men's tennis team continued its strong start to the season Friday night as the Lions posted a 4-1 win over Dartmouth in the first round of the ECAC Championships at Dartmouth's Alexis Boss Tennis Center.
The duo of Alex Kotzen and Roko Horvat got the match started with a 6-1 win against Carlos Guerrero Alvarez and Hikaru Takeda in the No. 3 singles. Theo Winegar and Nicolas Kotzen then sealed the doubles point for the Lions with a 6-2 win over Alex Knox-Jones and Logan Chang at the No. 2 spot.
No. 14 Michael Zheng started singles action with an impressive 6-2, 6-1 win against Alvarez in the No. 1 singles to give the Lions a 2-0 advantage. Henry Ruger followed that up with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at the No. 5 singles against Takeda.
Knox-Jones posted Dartmouth's only team point of the match as earned a 6-4, 6-4 win over Winegar in the No. 6 spot.
No. 32 Horvat capped off the Columbia win as he battled through a three-set match to take a 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 win against Miles Groom in the No. 2 singles.
