Columbia Men's Tennis Tops Brown, 7-0

The Lions complete the weekend 2-0 after strong performances up and down the lineup
NEW YORK — The No. 13 Columbia men's tennis team picked up a 7-0 victory over Brown Sunday at the Philip & Cheryl Milstein Family Tennis Center. The Lions improved to 18-3 overall and 5-1 in conference action.
All three of the Bears' duos started strong in doubles, but the Lions settled in and took control on all three courts. At No. 3, Roko Horvat and Alex Kotzen picked up a 6-3 victory and Theo Winegar and Michael Zheng clinched the point with a 6-4 triumph in the No. 1 slot.
Alex Kotzen was dominant from start to finish, claiming a 6-0, 6-1 win over Matthew Mu at No. 5 singles. No. 28 Michael Zheng and Nicolas Kotzen finished at nearly the same to clinch the match for the Lions. Zheng topped Niraj Komatineni in No. 1 action, 6-2, 6-3. Nicolas Kotzen defeated Alex Koong in straight-sets (6-3, 6-0) to secure the victory at No. 6 seconds later.
The teams opted to finish the match to completion, allowing Max Westphal to top Oliver Worth at No. 2 by a count of 6-2, 6-3. Roko Horvat held off Noah Hernandez, 7-6, in a tiebreak in the first set before overpowering his opponent 6-1 in the second to keep things rolling at No. 4. Hugo Hashimoto put the finishing touches on the sweep after earning a 6-3, 6-7, [10-8] win.
UP NEXT
The Lions wrap up the regular season at home against No. 40 Cornell for senior day. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. at the Milstein Family Tennis Center.
