
Fencing Earns USFCA Academic Awards

The Lions put 39 members of the squad on the USFCA All-Academic Team
NEW YORK — A total of 39 members of the Columbia fencing team was honored by The United States Fencing Coaches Association after it announced the 2023 slate of NCAA Fencing Academic awards. All-Academic Team honors are presented to those student-athletes at member institutions who had an in-season GPA of 3.3 or higher.
Additionally, 22 Lions from the 2022-23 squad were named Scholars of Distinction, which are presented student-athletes had a GPA of 3.7 or higher.
Columbia's women were second in the nation with 23 All-Academic Team nods and 16 Scholars of Distinction. The men led all Ivy League teams with 13 Scholars of Distinction. Both squads received All-Academic Team recognition for their combined in-season team GPA. The women boasted a 3.417 and the men had a 3.526 for the academic year.
