Nick Babin secures the 125 bout win
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Nick Babin earned a win at 125 to start Sunday's dual against No. 22 Penn, but the Quakers won the remaining nine bouts to take a 31-3 win over Columbia (1-7).
Babin met Penn's No. 29 Max Gallagher in the 125 bout to kick off the dual. Babin Gallagher battled through two scoreless periods before Babin used a takedown to take the lead with a little over a minute remaining in the third period. Babin fought through the closing minutes and gained the riding time point to secure a 4-0 decision win to put the Lions up, 3-0 to start the dual.
Following Babin's win, Penn went on to win the next nine bouts to finish off a 31-3 victory. Columbia battled close in several bouts, losing six of the bouts via decision.
In one of the premiere matchups of the afternoon, No. 20 Lennox Wolak met Penn's No. 7 Nick Incontrera in the 174 bout. Wolak and Incontrera were neck-and-neck the whole bout with Incontrera taking a 1-0 lead into the third period. Incontrera executed a takedown with under a minute remaining and held on to win in a 5-3 decision.
