Cesar Alvan Captures Title at South American Wrestling Championships

Alvan wins the seniors freestyle 74 kg title
RIO DE JANEIRO – Columbia junior Cesar Alvan battled through three matches last weekend to win the seniors freestyle 74 kg title at the South American Wrestling Championships.
Representing Brazil at the South American Wrestling Championships, Alvan faced Felipe Verga (Chile) in the first round of the seniors freestyle 74 kg bracket. Alvan used a VSU (11-0) 4-0 victory to advance to the semifinals against Paulo Silva (Brazil). Alvan secured a VSU1 (14-4) 4-1 win in the match to earn a spot in the final against Dom Ferreira (Brazil). Alvan dominated with a VSU (10-0) 4-0 victory in the final to claim the seniors freestyle 74 kg title in Rio De Janeiro.
Alvan will represent Brazil at 74 kg at the U23 World Championships in Albania starting later this month before returning to New York for the start of Columbia's wrestling season in November.
