Lennox Wolak Posts Sixth-Place Finish at 2024 NCAA Wrestling Championships

Wolak finishes his Columbia career as an All American
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lennox Wolak wrapped up his run at the 2024 NCAA Wrestling Championships with a sixth-place finish Saturday at the T-Mobile Center.
Wolak is the sixth individual in program history to earn All American status and is the first Columbia wrestler to be honored since Steve Santos in 2013. Wolak is the first All American during Andrew F. Barth Head Coach of Wrestling Zach Tanelli's tenure at Columbia.
Wolak started the championships with three wins to earn a spot in the 174 semifinals Friday night. He lost to Ohio State's Rocco Welsh in sudden victory, but remained in contention for third place entering Saturday.
Saturday started with a consolation semifinal match against Virginia Tech's top-seeded Mekhi Lewis. Lewis held on to take a 9-6 decision victory, sending Wolak to the fifth-place match. Wolak faced Cade DeVos from South Dakota State for the second time in two days. Wolak defeated DeVos in the quarterfinals Friday, but DeVos prevailed in Saturday's meeting and Wolak finished in sixth at 174.
Wolak highlighted Columbia's trip to the 2024 NCAA Championships as the only Lion to earn a spot on the podium. Aaron Ayzerov won his first-round match at 184 before falling consolation. Kai Owen (141) and Jack Wehmeyer (197) both lost in the first round and were defeated in consolation matches.
