LAKE PLACID, N.Y. — The Columbia men's golf team holds an eight-shot lead after the opening two rounds of the Columbia Autumn Invitational. The tournament is being held at the Lake Placid Club's Links Course.
Columbia (-13) is eight shots clear of second-place Dartmouth (-5). Four teams are under par, with St. Thomas Aquinas (-4) in third and Harvard (-2) in fourth.
The Lions were bolstered by a career day from George Rubelsky. The junior from Phoenix shot a career-low 7-under-par 64 in Saturday's first round. He was bogey-free on the round, which included five straight birdies at holes 13-17. Rublesky posted seven more birdies in the second round on his way to a 68. His 36-hole total of 10-under-par 132 is four shots off the Columbia record of 128, set by Nathan Han at the 2023 Doc Gimmler.
Rubelsky is in solo second on the individual leaderboard, two shots behind 36-hole leader Tyler Brand (-12) and five shots in front of the rest of the field. William Sung (-1) is tied for eighth, while Grant Lester (E) and Darren Pang (+1) sit in the top 20. Sixty-six players are in the field.
Sunday's final round will be a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. Tee times and live results are available on the Scoreboard powered by Clippd.
