Men's Soccer
The men's soccer team (1-5-4, 0-2-1 Ivy) continues its Ivy League slate with a challenging road contest against No. 5 Princeton (9-1-1, 3-0-0 Ivy). The Tigers sit at the top of the Ivy League table and moved up four spots to a program-best No. 5 ranking in this week's United Soccer Coaches Poll. Statistically, Princeton ranks No. 2 in the NCAA in team goals against average (0.364), No. 3 in save percentage (.911) and No. 5 in shutout percentage (.636). They had a 419-minute shutout streak snapped on Tuesday in a 1-1 draw against unranked James Madison. Meanwhile, the Lions are coming off a 2-2 draw on Tuesday at Army West Point. After going down two goals in the opening 12 minutes, Columbia settled into the match and scored two second-half goals to come away with a result. Andrwe Hilton II scored his first collegiate goal 10 minutes into the second half. Later on, with less than 10 minutes to play,
Andres Garcia blasted in his first goal of the season, the second of his collegiate career, to bring the match to its eventual final. With 10 goals on the season, the Lions continue to show improvement in their attack, now with more goals than all of last season combined. Columbia hopes to defeat Princeton for the first time since 2016, a 2-1 overtime win in New York City. Since then, Princeton has gone 5-0-2 against the Lions. The last draw came three years ago in NYC.
