Men’s Basketball Battles Back but Drops 95-89 Defeat to Dartmouth

Brown and Bedri each drop a career-high 24 points in the loss
NEW YORK — Columbia men's basketball dropped a 95-89 decision against Dartmouth as a late-game comeback fell short on Saturday night inside Schiller Court at Levien Gymnasium.
Dartmouth (9-10, 3-3) had five players score in double digits. The Big Green shot 16-of-24 (.667) on three-pointers to put the Lions away.
Avery Brown and Zine Eddine Bedri each had a game-high 24 points for the Lions (11-8, 0-6), marking new career highs in scoring for each. Bedri added eight rebounds and three assists. Kenny Noland (11 points) and Noah Robledo (10 points) rounded out Columbia's double-figure scorers.
After starting with a 6-2 advantage, Columbia lost the lead to an 11-0 Dartmouth run. The Big Green went up by as much as 22 to close the half with a 53-31 lead. Dartmouth shot 18-of-31 (.581) from the field in the opening frame. Columbia could only muster 11-of-37 (.297) from the field in that span.
The Lions made little headway for much of the second half until the 8:19 mark when they narrowed the deficit to 14 points. Brown brought the Lions within nine points after a jumper and a layup with a minute left before fouling out.
Dartmouth closed out the Lions shooting a red-hot 8-of-10 from three-point range in the second half. Columbia outscored the Big Green in the final half, 58-42.
The Lions continue their three-game homestand next Saturday against Brown. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
