Will Morrill Named Ivy League Rookie of the Year

Morrill is the first recipient of the new award after winning the Ivy League Individual Sabre Championship
PRINCETON, N.J. — Columbia fencing's Will Morrill was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year, as announced by the conference on Wednesday. Morrill, who was the unanimous choice, won the individual men's sabre title at the Ivy League Championships over the weekend.
The native of New York City boasted a 10-2 record during the two-day event. Morrill has posted a 23-4 record in dual meets over three competitions for the season. For USA Fencing, he also picked up a gold medal at the October NAC.
Additonally, Evelyn Cheng and Justin Haddad were selected as Columbia's representatives for the Academic All-Ivy League squad. Cheng is a junior Computer Science major from Palo Alto, California. Haddad, who claimed the Ivy League Individual Championship in men's epee, is a senior majoring in Computer Science from Bethesda, Maryland.
The Lions host the Kolombatovich Historical Meet on Wednesday, February 12, in their final tune-up for the postseason, which commences on March 9 at the NCAA Northeast Regionals.
