O’Keefe and Cobb Each Drop 16 Points in Men’s Basketball’s Loss at Brown

The Lions travel to Yale on Saturday night
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Columbia men's basketball trailed most of Friday night's game, falling at Brown, 86-61, inside Pizzitola Sports Center.
Gerard O'Keefe scored in double-figures for the fourth straight game, pouring in 16 points. Fellow first-year guard Gianni Cobb also chipped in 16 points. Blair Thompson was a force on the glass with a game-high 14 rebounds.
Columbia (12-11, 1-9) shot 35 percent from the field and 17 percent from three-point range. Kenny Noland added eight points and seven rebounds.
Brown (13-10, 5-5) started the game 14-19 from the field (73.7 percent), held a 32-18 lead 12:32 into the game and never looked back. The Bears led by as many as 16 in the frame and took a 42-31 lead into the break. Cobb poured in nine first-half points for Columbia.
Columbia was 3-13 from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes. Brown netted 28 points in the paint in the half.
Brown came out hot in the second half and broke off an 8-1 run over the first three minutes. The spurt evolved to 17-5, and Brown led 59-36 with just under 15 minutes to play.
Columbia visits Yale on Saturday night to close out a four-game road trip. Tip-off from John J. Lee Amphitheater is set for 7 p.m.
