LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Columbia wrestling team earned its third straight dual victory by defeating Bucknell, 25-16 in the regular season finale Friday night.
Columbia earned six bout victories and capitalized on bonus point opportunities to defeat Bucknell and improve to 6-7 overall in duals this season.
Sulayman Bah,
Lorenzo Frezza,
Kai Owen,
Richard Fedalen,
Cesar Alvan and
Nick Fine posted victories to lead the Lions to the team victory.
"Our staff is super proud of how the team responded these last two weeks," Andrew F. Barth Head Coach of Wrestling Donny Pritzlaff said. "Big individual wins by several guys and we are keeping our foot on the gas in critical moments. We will use these next days to sharpen our mindset heading into the Ivy Championship and punch through to Philadelphia. We will be healthy and hungry heading down to Princeton March 9
th."
Bah earned Columbia's first bout victory of the dual as he defeated Chris Nucifora via fall at 125. Shortly after, Frezza battled to a sudden victory performace at 141 against No. 19 Dylan Chappell to start a streak of four straight Columbia bout wins.
Owen secured another pin for the Lions with a win via fall over Aiden Davis in the 149 bout. Fedalen then secured a 5-2 decision win against Cade Wirnsberger at 157. No. 27 Alvan posted another decision win against No. 22 Noah Mulvaney in a tight battle at 165 pounds. No. 30
Nick Fine registered Columbia's last bout win of the night with a 9-0 major decision win against Logan Deacetis at 184.
