Archery, softball, and baseball are all in action away from home this weekend
NEW YORK — Columbia archery, softball, and baseball are featured in this week's edition of Lions on the Road. Every week, GoColumbiaLions.com will be using "Lions on the Road" to preview that week's upcoming games and events happening off campus.

The Lions (1-6) take on No. 5 Georgia (13-1) this weekend at Foley Field. Sam Miller leads Columbia with 10 hits and a .323 batting average, while Jack Kail is slugging a team-best .519. Kail also leads the team in RBIs (7) and runs (8). On the mound, Joe Sheets is coming off a solid start at No. 11 Oregon, where he tossed five innings of one-run ball. The Lions and Bulldogs meet for the first time ever on Friday. Columbia looks to snap a six-game losing skid since defeating Kennesaw State in an Opening Day thriller on Feb. 21.

The archery team concludes its indoor season at The Vegas Shoot, which takes place Thursday-Sunday at Horseshoe Las Vegas, Paris Las Vegas and Planet Hollywood. With over 4,000 archers, The Vegas Shoot is the largest indoor tournament in the world. The Lions will be sending junior Giselle DeSousa, junior Sydney Sullenberger and first-year Briana Moore to compete in the compound. Senior Judith Gottlieb, junior Lillian Han, sophomore Eunice Choi, sophomore Michelle Ahn and first-year Mia Shin will shoot recurve. Fans can keep track of the action live on ianseo.net.

The Columbia softball team returns to Florida for the second time this season for another weekend of action. The Lions will head to Fort Myers to play five games against three opponents between Friday and Sunday. Columbia will get things started with an 11 a.m. contest against Toledo on Friday. The Lions will finish the Friday doubleheader against the host school, Florida Gulf Coast at 1:30 p.m. Columbia will then face FGCU and Lehigh on Saturday for another doubleheader. The Lions wrap up the weekend against Lehigh on Sunday for a 10 a.m. first pitch. Columbia (2-3) looks to build on some success early this season after defeating Pitt and Quinnipiac during the opening weekend of the season in Orlando. Columbia will face FGCU again after losing to the Eagles two weeks ago.
