Men’s Basketball Falls in Season Finale at Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. — Columbia men's basketball was defeated by Cornell, 100-81, in the 2024-25 season finale on Saturday afternoon at Newman Arena.
Zine Eddine Bedri posted 17 points and 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Geronimo Rubio De La Rosa poured in 14 points in his final game as a Lion. The Santiago, Dominican Republic native finishes eighth on Columbia's all-time scoring list with 1,414 career points.
Avery Brown and Mason Ritter each added 10 points. Ritter was 5-5 from the field. Cornell shot 55.2 percent to Columbia's 46.9 percent mark.
Columbia was down 13 early on, but back-to-back buckets by Mason Ritter and Gerard O'Keefe cut the lead to 19-10 at the under-12 media timeout.
Later in the half, Cornell broke off a 15-5 run over a 3:36 span to lead 47-30 with 3:17 until the break. The Lions responded with an 11-2 spurt to shrink the Big Red lead again to nine. Cornell led 53-42 at the half.
The Big Red controlled the second half, never letting the lead slip below seven. Cornell led 75-68 with nine minutes to play before back-to-back triples to boost the margin to 11 at the under-eight media timeout.
Cornell pulled away and led by as many as 23 with 5:13 remaining.
