CARLSBAD, Calif. — Columbia men's golf first-year
Grant Lester has been named an NCAA Division I PING All-Region honoree, as announced recently by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
Lester is one of 25 All-Region selections from the Northeast Region. The 2024-25 Ivy League Rookie of the Year, Lester led the Lions with a 71.82 stroke average this season. He averaged just +0.67 strokes above par per round. Along the way, the rookie from the nation's capital earned five top-fives, eight top-10s and a total of 10 top-25s across 11 tournaments, finishing under-par on five occasions.
The highlights of Lester's season began when he was runner-up in his collegiate debut at The Doc Gimmler (Sept. 16-17), becoming just the fifth player in program history to post a score of 134 or better in the opening 36 holes of a tournament. He was fifth at 4-under-par 209 to help the Lions win the Columbia Autumn Invitational (Sept. 28-29), and went on a string of top threes to close out the season.
Lester was named the Ivy League Men's Golfer of the Month for April, posting a stroke average of 70.00, averaging -1.00 strokes per round vs. par and combining to shoot 6-under across his six rounds. He finished runner-up at the Ivy League Championship (-2) to earn All-Championship Team honors.
