Brown will play alongside fellow Ivy League student-athletes for Team USA
NEW YORK — Columbia men's basketball rising senior Avery Brown was selected to represent Team USA in 3x3 competition at the World University Games in Bochum, Germany, in July.
Brown and his team will report to Cincinnati, Ohio, on July 12 for a training camp before traveling to Germany on July 15. The teams will participate in the Opening Ceremonies on July 16 before 3x3 games begin on July 17. Teams will play in "pool play" before the top teams from each pool will advance into the tournament. Like the Olympics, FIBA rules will apply. Chandler Piggé (Harvard), Jackson Hicke (Princeton), and Nick Townsend (Yale) round out the team.
Brown started all 27 games and averaged 27.2 minutes per game in 2024-25. The Beacon Falls, Connecticut native averaged 11.1 points per game and ranked second on the team with 76 assists. He dropped a career-high 24 points on 9-of-16 shooting vs. Dartmouth on Feb. 1 and poured in 18 points in an upset win at Villanova on Nov. 6. Brown recorded 15 double-figure scoring games last season.
