NEW YORK — According to Columbia Athletics' Success Through Well-Being's 2024 Post-Graduate Plans Report, 96 percent of Columbia University's Class of 2024 student-athletes reported post-graduate plans, among those from the class who responded.
Of Columbia's graduating student-athletes who reported post-graduate plans, 51 percent secured full-time employment, 33 percent are attending graduate school, and the remaining alumni are involved in various other opportunities (e.g., fellowships, internships, etc.).
Various industries are represented among the student-athletes who have secured full-time employment, including finance, consulting, healthcare, technology, engineering, sports, fashion, law, government, and entertainment. The Columbia Athletics Class of 2024 is employed by companies and organizations such as Goldman Sachs, Deloitte, Microsoft, Blackstone, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, CNN, and more.
These numbers reflect Columbia Athletics' mission: "to maximize the opportunities for our student-athletes to reach their highest levels of achievement — here at Columbia and for the rest of their lives." The Class of 2024 data is consistent with the success that student-athletes have achieved over the last nine years, which saw an average success rate of approximately 97.67% (or 98%) between 2015 and 2023.
"At Columbia, we set a high standard for supporting our student-athletes beyond their time on campus, and I'm incredibly proud to see us continue to meet—and exceed—that standard," said Peter Pilling, Campbell Family Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education. "The commitment and discipline our student-athletes demonstrate during their years at Columbia become lifelong strengths. I have no doubt they'll go on to accomplish great things and represent our community with pride."
"I'm also deeply grateful to our Success Through Well-Being staff for equipping our student-athletes with the tools they need to thrive after graduation. Our campus partners at the Center for Career Education and Beyond Barnard, along with our dedicated alumni mentors, play an essential role in helping them navigate their next chapter. This collective support makes a lasting difference."
The Columbia Success Through Well-Being Initiative supports student-athletes holistically at Columbia and prepares them for life after college.
