The athletics program eclipsed $4 million raised for the third consecutive year.
The total, recorded during the 24-hour fundraising event on Wednesday, October 28, marks the third consecutive year that Columbia Athletics has surpassed $4 million, and the fourth time since 2018.
"We are incredibly grateful for the generosity and passion shown by our Columbia Athletics community on Giving Day, stated Pilling. "Raising over $4.1 million reflects the unwavering support of our alumni, parents, friends and supporters. Your belief in our student-athletes and our mission inspires us every day. The resources provided will truly have a lasting impact on our student-athletes' experiences."
Columbia Athletics received 4,140 gifts, the highest total among all schools and departments across the University. Athletics also won five hourly challenges, including most gifts from 9-10 a.m., most faculty gifts from 12-1 p.m., most student gifts from 5-6 p.m. and most undergraduate G.O.L.D. (graduates of the last decade) from 7-8 p.m. The challenge victories earned an additional $12,500 in bonus funds. The department also secured $20,500 in extra challenge money for the OneROAR Fund.
"A lot of work is done behind the scenes to make Giving Day a success," said Erich Ely, Director of Athletic Development. "We are so thankful that our alumni show up for our athletics program consistently year after year. Every gift, large or small, will help Columbia Athletics continue to thrive. We deeply appreciate your commitment and generosity."
Other highlights from Columbia Giving Day include:
