
Columbia Men Defeat Cornell, Women Fall in Ivy Matchups

Men earn an 8–1 victory; Women drop a 7–2 decision
NEW YORK — Columbia Squash split its Ivy League contests against Cornell, with the men delivering a dominant 8–1 win while the women fell, 7–2, inside the SL Green StreetSquash on Saturday.
Men's Recap
The Columbia (5-4, 2-3 Ivy) men controlled the ladder from the start, claiming eight of 10 matches. Sophomore Yusuf Sheikh set the tone with a straight-game victory at No. 1 singles (11-6, 11-9, 11-5), and junior Arhan Chandra followed with another three-game sweep at No. 3. The Houstonian secured his second victory this season in a convincing fashion (11-7, 11-7, 11-5).
First year Ahmad Haq and sophomore Imad Athar each posted decisive 3–0 wins at No. 4 (11-3, 11-3, 11-0) and 5 (11-5, 11-5, 11-2), respectively, while first year Sam Du secured a four-game victory at No. 6 (11-8, 11-8, 7-11, 11-8).
Sophomore Varun Fuloria soared through a five-game thriller at No. 7 (6-11, 11-6, 14-12, 6-11, 11-6), and junior Laszlo Godde bagged his first win this season with a four-game win at No. 8 (8-11, 11-3, 11-6, 11-9). Junior Tommy Soltanian rounded out the scoring with a strong performance at No. 9.
