Four first-team selections are the most since 1981
PRINCETON, N.J. – Columbia wrestlers Cesar Alvan, Sulayman Bah, Joe Curtis, Nick Fine, Vincent Mueller, and Jack Wehmeyer secured All-Ivy League recognition, as announced by the Ivy League on Thursday afternoon. The LIons' coaching staff, led by Andrew F. Barth Head Coach of Wrestling Donny Pritzlaff, was named the Ivy League Coaching Staff of the Year.
Alvan (165), Bah (125), Curtis (184), and Mueller (285) earned first team honors and were all unanimous selections, while Fine (174) and Wehmeyer (197) took home second team honors. The six All-Ivy selections are the most for the Lions since 2012, while the four first team selections are the most since 1981.
"What a remarkable achievement for these six young men to be recognized as All-Ivy," Pritzlaff said. "They've trained with purpose all season to reach this point, and now they're prepared to punch their tickets to Cleveland. Our staff has consistently emphasized the importance of March and tournament season as the peak of the competitive year, so they're excited to wrestle with pure intensity on Sunday. While this recognition is a great honor, our focus remains squarely on Sunday and putting on a display of tough, fierce wrestling."
In their second season, Pritzlaff and his staff have guided the Lions to historic heights. Under their watch, Columbia clinched the program's fifth Ivy League Championship and first since 1982. The Lions head into the Ivy League Championship on a nine-match winning streak and are 11-3 overall. The 11 dual wins are the most since the 1996-97 team finished the year 12-6. Columbia's three losses this season have come against teams currently ranked in the coaches Top-25 poll or that are currently receiving votes in the coaches poll.
Alvan earns his third All-Ivy recognition, but it is his first time earning First Team All-Ivy League honors after earning second team accolades in 2023 and 2025. Alvan went 5-0 this year in Ivy League duals, including wins over No. 16 Ty Whalen of Princeton and No. 19 Sean Seefeldt of Penn. Alvan's 7-3 win over Cornell's Louie Cerchio started the comeback for Columbia that saw the Lions defeat Cornell for the first time since 1986.
Bah takes home his first career Ivy League honor. The junior from the Bronx is 20-11 this season and is currently riding a seven-match unbeaten streak. In Ivy League duals, he went 5-0 with three wins via tech fall and one by fall. His win by fall over No. 26 Greg Diakomihalis of Cornell was the catalyst that got the Lions a start in their win over the Big Red.
Curtis capped off his breakout campaign with a 4-0 record in the Ivy League this year. He is currently tied with teammate Vincent Mueller for the most wins by fall in the NCAA with 11. Against Ivy League opponents, he has two wins by fall and a win via a major decision.
Mueller entered 2025-26 with 18 career wins. This season, he finished 21-6, including a 5-0 mark in the Ivy League. Mueller's 11 wins via fall are the most in the NCAA with Curtis. His sudden death victory over Cornell's Ashton Davis sealed the Lions' biggest regular-season win in a generation.
This is Fine's second All-Ivy honor; he earned honorable mention accolades last year. The senior from Cumberland, R.I., went 3-1 in the Ivy League this year; his eight tech falls are among the top in the nation.
Wehmyer's return to the lineup after missing the 2024-25 season has been a huge factor in the Lions' success in 2025-26. He went 4-1 in Ivy League play this season, with those four wins topping his three from 2023-24. After starting the year 3-5, Wehmeyer went on a 12-match unbeaten run and finished the regular season with 16 wins overall.
Columbia returns to action on Sunday when it hosts the Ivy League Championship. The Lions will compete for automatic bids to the NCAA Championships, which will take place later this month in Cleveland, Ohio.
