NEW YORK, N.Y. - Cornell opened the game on a 24-6 run and didn't look back, defeating Columbia 77-47 in Ithaca. Cornell improved to 6-9, 1-1 Ivy, while Columbia fell to 10-5, 1-1 Ivy.
Cornell led by double-digits for almost the entire game.
Cornell scored early and often, shooting 55.6 percent from the field in the first half. Columbia shot just 28 percent. Columbia fared a bit better in the second half, shooting 30 percent to Cornell's 40.
Whereas last week vs. Cornell, Columbia hit a season-high 10 of 13 from behind the arc, good enough for the second-best single-game three-point percentage in the country, this week, the Lions hit just two of 15.
Matt Preston (Wantagh, N.Y.) led the Lions with 12 points and eight rebounds. Dragutin Kravic (Zrenjanin, Serbia) and Mack Montgomery (Clayton, N.C.) each had seven points in the loss.
Columbia returns to action on Saturday when they host Dartmouth at 2 p.m.
