NEW YORK - Michael Quarshie has returned to Europe, but it is not to go home to his native Finland. The Lions' 2004 co-captain has been signed by the Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL Europe.

Quarshie, who flew to Germany Sunday and began practice with the team today, could conceivably play as early as this Saturday (April 30) when the Galaxy hosts the Rhein Fire.

A 2004 first-team All-Ivy honoree, Quarshie has been practicing at nose tackle for Frankfurt's scout team.

"I believe I practiced well in pads against good competition," said Quarshie. "I'm hoping to continue to improve to the point where I'm able to play in our next game."

The Galaxy is off to a 1-3 start this season and has six games remaining on its schedule.
