Columbia Golf: Facilities

The success our teams have enjoyed, winning more Ivy League championships than any other Ivy school over the past nine seasons is a direct result of our facilities. We have numerous training facility options at our disposal, including The Saint Andrew's Golf Club, Haworth Country Club and The Golf Training Center at Columbia University right on campus!
The Golf Training Center at Columbia University
Since 2001, Columbia Golf has enjoyed and taken advantage of having an indoor training center and team room on campus. The indoor golf center is located in Dodge Fitness Center on the third floor. It has a full-size hitting bay, a 420 square foot putting green and a locker room. The room also contains video cameras, V1 software for analyzing swings a Foresight Launch monitor and Wi-Fi. Columbia University golfers have full exclusive access to the facility whenever the gym is open.
The Saint Andrew's Golf ClubSaint Andrew’s, located in Hastings-On-Hudson, New York, was founded in 1888 after Scottish sportsman John Reid and his friends played a round of “Gowf” in a pasture in Yonkers, with clubs transported from Saint Andrew’s in Scotland. The club would go on to become a founding member of the United States Golf Association, hosting the first US amateur and “open” championships in 1894. The club moved to its current location in 1897 and was redesigned by Jack Nicklaus as part of a personal project by the legendary golfer in the early 1980s.
“We’ve enjoyed a wonderful relationship with Saint Andrew’s for the last decade,” said Columbia head coach Rich Mueller. “The Club has undoubtedly been a cornerstone in our success. Winning four of the last seven Ivy League Championships is in part attributable to having a facility and membership that cares about our program and the amateur ideal.”
“The golf course is very beautiful and challenging, is exceptionally well-maintained and prepares our student-athletes very well for competitive tournament play,” continued Mueller. “Even more exciting are the plans for the new indoor-outdoor learning center, renovated driving range and expanded practice areas. While Columbia golfers will benefit immensely from the improvements, Saint Andrew’s will further its reputation as a premier facility within the Met section.”
The agreement is significant for Columbia as it seeks to remain among the best NCAA Division I men’s golf programs in the Ivy League and the northeast. The Lions will have access to Saint Andrew’s throughout the entire school year for training and practice sessions. They will also have benefit from natural grass practice tees, the use of golf carts, dining options, and summer access

The Saint Andrew's Golf Club also built a brand new learning center in 2015 that features three hitting bays and a putting lab. For more information on the Apple Tree Learning Center, click here.
In the spring of 2017, Columbia golf signed an agreement with Haworth Country Club as one of its home practice venues. Haworth will allow the Columbia men's golf program an additional practice facility as well as the opportunity to host annual collegiate tournaments, an alumni, friends and family tournament, along with golf camps.
“Haworth Country Club is a championship-caliber golf course within the immediate New York City locale,” Columbia Director of Golf Rich Mueller said. “The agreement will help diversify our practice opportunities and be a wonderful complement to our respective primary facilities. I look forward to working with them in building a meaningful relationship.”
A hidden gem just 15 miles from Columbia's campus, the 18-hole private golf course at Haworth Country Club offers a picturesque 175-acre property featuring bentgrass greens, tees, and fairways which provide some of the best conditioned playing surfaces in the Northeast. The course officially opened in 1965 but was redesigned by the legendary golf course architect, Robert Trent Jones Jr. in 2000. The course length is up to 7,000 yards and the modern design features classic traditional elements that provide a memorable round. Since then, Haworth has been selected to host several US Open & MET Open qualifying rounds in recent years.
Additionally, the team occasionally receives special invitations to play other facilities. Over the years, the team has played: Friar's Head, The Creek Club, Quaker Ridge, Rockaway Hunt Club, Alpine, The Tuxedo Club, Liberty National, Baltustrol, Garden City, Manhattan Woods and others!
