Brian Sands joined the Columbia men's basketball staff in the summer of 2024 after serving as a graduate assistant with the Lions in the previous season. In his role as Director of Video & Analytics, he supports the coaching staff by managing video responsibilities and providing analytical insights.
During the 2023-24 season, Sands worked closely with the coaching and support staff, contributing to practice preparation, team travel, administrative duties, and game management. Additionally, he oversaw the student managers.
In the summer of 2024, Sands expanded his experience internationally as the Director of Basketball Operations for the USA East Coast team in an international tournament held in Melilla, Spain. He handled trip logistics and delivered video edits to the coaching staff.
A native of Orlando, Florida, Sands attained valuable exposure in college with the Maryland football team, where he was involved in recruiting and operations.
Sands completed his bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of Maryland in 2023. He earned his master’s degree in Sports Management from Columbia University in 2024.
