David Collins is in his fourth year as an Assistant Athletic Communications Director, having joined the Columbia staff in May 2019. His primary sport coverage includes baseball, wrestling volleyball, cross country, and track and field. Collins also serves as the secondary contact for Columbia football.
Collins joins the Columbia Athletics Department after working two years in the University of Louisiana Athletics Communications Office (2017-19), where he served as the Ragin’ Cajuns' communications contact for the women’s basketball and men’s tennis, women’s tennis and women’s soccer teams. He also worked the 2018 season with the Ragin' Cajuns football team where he handled publicity for the Cure Bowl in Orlando, Fla.
Collins graduated from the University of Colorado in May of 2017 with a degree in journalism and a minor in history. During his time at Colorado, Collins worked directly with the women's tennis and women's soccer programs as a student assistant in the Colorado Sports Information Department. Under the tutelage of David Plati, Collins worked on the stat crew for both men's and women's basketball and handled various gameday duties for football at Colorado.
A native of Bridgewater, N.J., Collins spent four years (2009-13) in the U.S. Army as an infantryman. Stationed all four years at Fort Drum, N.Y., Collins was a part of the 10th Mountain Division's 1-71 Cavalry Squadron and along with his unit, was deployed in 2010 to the Dand District of Southern Afghanistan for 12 months as a part of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Collins resides in New York City.
