David Poolman was named Senior Associate Athletic Director, Operations and Administration in August of 2023. He will be responsible for athletic facilities, events management, capital projects, oversight of the Tennis Center, and will serve as a sports program administrator.
Poolman spent the past five years as the Executive Director and League Commissioner of the College Squash Association, the official governing body for intercollegiate squash in the United States.
Prior to working with the College Squash Association, Poolman held various positions within the Columbia athletics department from 2010-18
Most recently, Poolman served as the Associate Athletics Director for Intercollegiate Sports Programs from 2015-2018. Prior to that, he spent time as the Assistant Athletics Director for Intercollegiate Sports Programs for one year. His Columbia journey began in 2010 when he worked for Columbia Athletics Events Operations.
In May 2016, Poolman was appointed as a member of the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Fencing Committee, a post he served until 2020. Poolman has also served as the Administrative Chair of the Ivy League Squash Coach Committee since August 2016.
Before Columbia, Poolman worked in the athletics department at the United States Merchant Marine Academy from 2007-10, where he gained experience as an events coordinator, operations specialist, equipment manager and taught physical education classes.
A 2006 graduate of Haverford College, Poolman earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and went on to receive a master of science in Sports Business from New York University in 2011.
He resides in the Bronx with his wife, Bethany, and their children, Harlan and Thea.
